This diagram has been designed to report surgical and pathological results after the resection of a sinonasal malignant tumor. Once completed, it may help to understand the extension of tumoral invasion, while indicating the precise position, size and relation of every tissular samples. It is also a tool that avoids loss of information between surgery and MDT meeting. This diagram could also be used as a visual support during MDT presentation.
This diagram has to be completed following two steps:
- First step: immediate postoperative period: the removed structures have to be numerated and filled with hatching. Unresected structures stay blank. This first drawing indicates the extension of the surgical resection and locates all the tissular samples.
- Second step: after pathological results obtention: the diagram is then completed: invaded structures are completely filled, non invaded resected structures stay filled only with hatching. This second drawing indicates the tumoral invasion within resected structures and shows the free margins.
We recommend the use of this monochromatic code to avoid loss of information in case of transmission via fax or black and white photocopying.
You will find bellow an example of use and a diagram with added legend.
